Terms of Use

Last updated: September 21, 2026

Short version The Playbook provides business education tools. Use them in your business. Don't resell or rebrand them as your own product. Every kit has a 14-day refund window. Nothing here is legal, tax, or financial advice โ€” check with a licensed professional before making big decisions.

1. What you're getting

The Tradesman's Playbook ("we", "the Playbook") provides free educational content (blog, calculators, Money Leak Assessment) and paid digital products (starter kits, bundles, worksheets) to help solo tradespeople run their businesses better.

2. License โ€” what you can do with the kits

When you buy a kit, you get a perpetual, single-business license:

  • Use the templates, calculators, and content in your own business โ€” including with your customers, employees, and subcontractors โ€” forever.
  • Edit, rebrand internally, and adapt to your workflow.
  • Print, share with your team, and use across as many devices as you own.

What you cannot do:

  • Resell or redistribute the kit as-is (as a bundle, download, or Etsy listing).
  • Rebrand our content and sell it as your own product or course.
  • Upload the files to file-sharing sites (Scribd, DocSharer, etc.).
  • Include our content in a paid service or subscription without written permission.

If in doubt, email [email protected] and ask. Reasonable requests usually get "yes."

3. Free content

Calculators, blog posts, and the Money Leak Assessment are free to use forever. You don't need to sign up. Feel free to share the URLs with your crew, apprentices, or on trade forums.

4. Refunds

Every kit purchased through Gumroad comes with a 14-day full-refund policy, no questions asked. If a kit isn't useful, email us or use Gumroad's refund form and you'll get your money back within 3โ€“5 business days.

5. Disclaimer โ€” not legal or financial advice

The Playbook is business education, not professional advice. Specifically:

  • Pricing examples are illustrative. Actual prices vary by market, regulation, and job specifics. Your labor rate, material markup, and quote structure are business decisions only you can make.
  • Contract templates are starting points, not law-office-tested contracts. Have a licensed attorney review any contract before you rely on it in a dispute.
  • Tax and business-entity guidance (LLC formation, subcontractor vs. employee, overhead accounting) is general. Consult a CPA or tax professional for advice specific to your situation and jurisdiction.
  • Safety and code references (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) reflect common practice at time of writing. Local code and manufacturer specs override anything in a kit. Never substitute a template for a code book.

6. Warranty and liability limits

The Playbook provides content "as is". We work to keep math correct and templates useful, but we make no warranty that:

  • Any calculator will produce a legally-valid quote for your specific job.
  • Any template complies with the exact wording your state or municipality requires.
  • Any content will result in a specific business outcome (revenue, profitability, close rate).

To the fullest extent allowed by law, our liability for any claim related to the Playbook is limited to the amount you paid for the specific product (kit, bundle, or worksheet) that gave rise to the claim.

7. Toolbox App

The Toolbox App is a free web-based tool that stores data in your browser's local storage. We don't have access to any of your job data. If you clear your browser or switch devices, that data does not automatically transfer โ€” export your data (built-in feature) if you need it elsewhere.

8. Fair use of the site

Don't try to break the site. Specifically: no automated scraping of blog content or calculator logic, no brute-force attacks on the /api/subscribe endpoint, no attempting to bypass the email drip unsubscribe. Rate limits apply, and we ban IPs that abuse them.

9. Changes to these terms

If we materially change these terms, we'll update the "last updated" date and, for anyone on our email list, send a notice. Your continued use of the site after a change means you accept the new terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Serbia (where the business is registered), without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any legal dispute goes to the competent courts in Kruลกevac, Serbia โ€” but honestly, we'd rather solve it over email first.

11. Contact

[email protected]. Written by a human, read by a human, replied to by a human.
